Professor Jan Lindsay's Inaugural Lecture Insights into volcanic risk from Auckland to the Antilles, Andes and Arabia

A night to celebrate our co-leader Jan's promotion to Professor. A huge accomplishment, and Jan is one of only three Professor of Geosciences in Aotearoa. The lecture followed Jan's journey around the globe, the many research projects, doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers Jan has collaborated with.

"Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini.

My success is not mine alone, but is based on the success of many"

DEVORA is celebrating Jan's promotion to the rank of Professor at the University of Auckland. This is a outstanding achievement and represents Jan's successful career to date. On the night Deputy Dean of Science Professor Douglas Elliffe remarked "Over her career at the University of Auckland she has supervised over 30 postgraduate research students and including 12 PhDs, has over 100 publications, and a I10 index of 74".

This lecture follows Jan's globetrotting research studying magmatic and volcanic systems, and societal resilience to natural hazards. Along the way Jan covers the research successes of her doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers, many of whom where present to mix, mingle and celebrate.
